The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission team uses its passion and expertise to connect people, assist communities, and advance cooperative solutions to regional challenges experienced by the communities that created it. It serves the regional planning needs of Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties.

In addition, the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission:

  • Is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for two metropolitan transportation study areas (Benton Harbor/St. Joseph and Niles/Buchanan/Cass County).
  • Is the state-designated water quality planning agency under the Clean Water Act.
